Why Join the Confident Kids Group?

Confident Kids is more than just a kids group—it’s a supportive, science-backed experience designed to help children grow socially and emotionally in ways that stick.

In-Person Connection in Portland, Oregon

Our in-person sessions, held in our office located in NW Portland, Oregon, provide a valuable opportunity for children to engage face-to-face with peers and clinicians in a supportive environment. These sessions cultivate a strong sense of community and belonging, enabling children to practice social skills and form meaningful relationships.

Science Backed Program, Skills Built for Life

Confident Kids is grounded in the latest research in child psychology and education. Our program incorporates evidence-based tools—including strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and self-compassion practices— to build emotional intelligence, resilience, and social skills in children.

To support continued growth at home, families receive practical follow-through recommendations and a binder filled with handouts and learning tools.

Facilitated by Child Mental Health Experts

Our sessions are led by experienced child mental health experts who are passionate about helping children thrive. Our facilitators bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to each session, ensuring every child receives the guidance and support they need.

A Safe Space and Supportive Environment

At Confident Kids, our clinicians prioritize creating a safe and welcoming space for all. Our facilitators are trained to foster an atmosphere of trust and respect, encouraging children to share their thoughts and feelings openly. We adhere to strict safety protocols and confidentiality measures to ensure that every child feels protected and valued in our program.

What to Expect

Week 2: Thoughts

Kids develop an awareness of their own thinking and the power they have to shift their thoughts to become more flexible and better able to cope.

Week 1: Emotions

Kids understand the crucial role emotions play in our lives. We explore how our feelings connect to our actions and responses in everyday situations.

Week 3: Actions/Behaviors

Kids practice recognizing the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. They learn about the importance of this relationship and how it can impact their ability to manage every day stressors.

Week 4: Coping Strategies

Using concepts like mindfulness and self-soothing strategies, kids discover healthy coping tools to manage their emotions and stress with confidence.

Week 5: Mindset

Kids learn about mindsets that change how they relate to stress, as well as increase their potential for academic and personal success.

Week 6: Friendship

By exploring empathy, communication skills, and self-compassion, kids learn how to build and keep healthy friendships while also being a friend to themselves.

Support From Home

Your involvement matters. When parents are engaged, kids make even more meaningful progress—which is why we keep you closely connected throughout the group. After each session, you’ll receive a detailed recap email highlighting what your child learned, along with practical tips and resources to help you reinforce those skills at home. In our final session, parents are invited to join a brief presentation reviewing the key tools from our Confident Kids binder (provided to every family). It’s a valuable opportunity to ask questions, celebrate your child’s growth, and feel confident continuing the learning together.
