Kat (She/Her) is the founder and clinical director of Raising Brave Kids, with two decades of experience working with children, teens, and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
She earned her Psychology degree from Azusa Pacific University and her Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University.
As a licensed marriage and family therapist, Kat specializes in supporting children, adolescents, and parents dealing with anxiety, OCD, and phobias. She has a particular focus on young children (ages 4-12), clients exploring PANS/PANDAS diagnoses, and those on the neurodiverse spectrum. Her approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Response Prevention, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Habit Reversal Training, and Family Systems.
Kat lives in Portland, Oregon, where she enjoys exploring the outdoors, reading science fiction novels, and spending time with her 5 and 8 year old kids.

Jenny (She/Her) holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development from the University of California, Davis, and a Master’s in Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work.
As a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience, Jenny specializes in treating children and teens with anxiety and mood disorders. She uses evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy to provide personalized care for her clients.
Jenny is passionate about client-centered care and has a deep understanding of community systems, which allows her to be a compassionate advocate for families navigating complex challenges.
Recently relocated to Portland, OR from Madison, WI, Jenny is excited to support families in her community. Outside the office, Jenny loves spending time with her husband and two kids,finding nature adventures, practicing Pilates, exploring the city for local art, and pairing a captivating book with a great cup of coffee.
Marissa Swanson MA, LPCC Clinician

Marissa (She/Her) holds a Master’s in Counseling Psychology with a PPS credential from Saint Mary’s College.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor she is skilled at supporting young kids, tweens, teens, and their families. With a background as an elementary school counselor, she has years of experience helping children navigate anxiety, mood challenges, life transitions, and social skills. She’s especially passionate about supporting neurodiverse kids & teens, helping them feel confident and moving towards their best selves.
Marissa uses approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), always taking a client-centered focus. She believes in partnering with parents to create a supportive environment where kids can grow and thrive.
Since moving to the Portland metro area in 2021, Marissa has been excited to connect with families in her new community. When she’s not working, she enjoys watching documentaries, listening to podcasts, painting with watercolors, and gardening. She also stays active with barre classes and loves exploring her neighborhood with her two playful dogs.

Jessica (she/her) earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Washington and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
She is passionate about supporting kids and teens as they navigate big feelings, anxiety, life transitions, and challenges with confidence and resilience. Jessica uses approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Family Systems to help young people and their families build skills, strengthen relationships, and thrive.
Jessica also brings experience from child advocacy and court settings, where she developed a strong ability to guide kids through difficult moments with steadiness and care. She carries that same warmth into her work at Raising Brave Kids, where she is leading the development of a Canine Companion program. Soon, she’ll be joined by a facility dog in the room to help kids feel even more at ease.
Outside of work, Jessica enjoys practicing yoga, mountain biking, spending time outdoors, and exploring new places with friends and family.
Teana Krolak MA, QMHP Associate Clinician

Teana (She/Her) received her Master’s degree in Applied Clinical Psychology from Pacific University. Teana is a Registered Associate Professional Counselor under the direct supervision of our clinical director Kat Schoolland, LMFT
She specializes in Anxiety, Phobias, OCD and Mood challenges. Her work is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Exposure Response Prevention. Her therapeutic approach is a strengths-based, client-centered, collaborative model. Teana especially enjoys working with children and teens who are seeking to develop tailored science backed strategies for conquering fears and building resilience.
Outside of the office, Teana enjoys spending time with her cat, playing video games, and discovering new coffee shops.

Meg LaFamboise Clinical Care Coordinator
Meg (She/Her) is the Clinical Care Coordinator at Raising Brave Kids, where she combines her strong business background with a genuine passion for family-centered care. Originally from Michigan and now living on the Big Island of Hawaii with her two children, Meg’s experience in business development, recruiting, and HR ensures smooth operations at the practice. Her focus on mindfulness and family well-being aligns perfectly with Raising Brave Kids' mission, providing exceptional support to the families we serve. In her free time, Meg enjoys surfing, cooking, and meditation.
