Why Join the Confident Kids Group?

Confident Kids is more than just a fun kids group—it’s a supportive, science-backed experience designed to help children grow socially and emotionally in ways that stick.

In-Person Connection in Portland, Oregon

Our in-person sessions, held in our office located in NW Portland, Oregon, provide a valuable opportunity for children to engage face-to-face with peers and clinicians in a supportive environment. These sessions cultivate a strong sense of community and belonging, enabling children to practice social skills and form meaningful relationships.

Science Backed Program, Skills Built for Life

Confident Kids is grounded in the latest research in child psychology and education. Our program incorporates evidence-based tools—including strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and self-compassion practices— to build emotional intelligence, resilience, and social skills in children.

To support continued growth at home, families receive practical follow-through recommendations and a binder filled with handouts and learning tools.

Facilitated by Child Mental Health Experts

Our sessions are led by experienced child mental health experts who are passionate about helping children thrive. Our facilitators bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to each session, ensuring every child receives the guidance and support they need.

A Safe Space and Supportive Environment

At Confident Kids, our clinicians prioritize creating a safe and welcoming space for all. Our facilitators are trained to foster an atmosphere of trust and respect, encouraging children to share their thoughts and feelings openly. We adhere to strict safety protocols and confidentiality measures to ensure that every child feels protected and valued in our program.

What to Expect

DAY 2 + 3

Coping Strategies & Mindset

Using concepts like mindfulness and self-soothing strategies, kids discover healthy coping tools to manage their emotions and stress with confidence. These skills support emotional resilience, helping kids feel more balanced, capable, and secure in daily life and social interactions.

Kids discover powerful mindsets that help them relate to stress in healthier ways and boost their potential for academic, athletic, and personal success. They learn how to face fears, embrace discomfort, and take brave steps—even when things feel hard. Through mindfulness and self-awareness, kids practice tuning into their inner experience with curiosity and kindness, learning to follow their “inner coach” instead of their “inner critic.” These skills are especially helpful for kids who feel stuck in worry, hesitant to try new things, or anxious about performing under pressure.

DAY 1 + 2

Thoughts, Emotions, & Actions

Kids explore the important connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, gaining insight into how these influence one another.By understanding the crucial role emotions play in everyday situations, kids develop greater awareness of their own thinking patterns and the power they have to shift these thoughts toward more flexible and helpful perspectives.

They'll practice recognizing how thoughts and feelings guide their actions, and how mindful choices and behaviors can positively impact their ability to cope with daily stressors. Together, these insights empower kids to manage emotions effectively and respond thoughtfully in challenging moments.

Day 4 + 5

Friendship & Self Compassion

By exploring empathy, communication skills, and self-compassion, kids learn how to build healthy friendships and strengthen their social skills, while also being a friend to themselves. They'll practice joining games confidently, playing fairly, handling wins and losses with grace, and staying flexible when things don't go as planned. Kids will also develop skills to notice and express their feelings, understand others, and manage emotions during play. Together, these activities empower kids to form stronger friendships and feel confident in themselves.

Support From Home

Your involvement matters. When parents are engaged, kids make even more meaningful progress—which is why we keep you closely connected throughout the group. After each session, you’ll receive a detailed recap email highlighting what your child learned, along with practical tips and resources to help you reinforce those skills at home. In our final session, parents are invited to join a brief presentation reviewing the key tools from our Confident Kids binder (provided to every family). It’s a valuable opportunity to ask questions, celebrate your child’s growth, and feel confident continuing the learning together.
