Inclement Weather/Hazardous Conditions Policy

At Raising Brave Kids, we believe that safety always comes first. Our inclement weather policy/hazardous conditions policy is designed with the well-being of our staff and clients in mind, ensuring that no one has to compromise their safety due to challenging conditions. If either our clinicians or clients feel that it is unsafe to travel to the office, we encourage the following steps:

For Clinicians:
If weather or other hazardous conditions prevent safe travel, clinicians will notify clients via call and/or email and arrange to transition the appointment to a telehealth session instead of meeting in person.

For Clients:
If the weather or other hazardous conditions are concerning and you haven’t heard from your therapist, please reach out directly by both calling and email to confirm your appointment. If you feel it’s best to stay home, or if school closures create unexpected childcare or privacy challenges, please contact your therapist by both email and phone to ensure timely communication. This will allow your therapist to adapt the session as needed, whether by transitioning to telehealth or rescheduling.

Most appointments can be quickly shifted to telehealth. Once confirmed, your therapist will send an email with details on how to connect virtually through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. 

If you follow these steps to contact your therapist and an alternate plan is made, no cancellation fee will be charged. However, if you miss a scheduled session (in-person or virtual) without notifying your therapist in advance, the usual cancellation fee at the full rate will apply.

Telehealth Options:
If you and your therapist decide to move your session online, you’ll receive instructions via email to access the telehealth appointment through a secure platform. Raising Brave Kids currently uses HIPPA compliant Google Meet, ensuring your session remains confidential and secure.
